VOLUNTEERING
Taissia’s commitment to service spans both military and civilian life.
She earned the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal during her time in the United States Marine Corps and received the Presidential Service Award for her dedication to community outreach across the U.S. and abroad.
Her volunteer work began in 2014 at the National United States Armed Forces Museum in Houston, Texas, where she logged over 500 hours leading tours, participating in parades and historical reenactments, and restoring military vehicles ranging from jeeps to tanks.
While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Yuma, Arizona, Taissia dedicated over 700 additional hours to programs supporting both military personnel and local communities. Her efforts included working with the USO, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and the Single Marine Program, as well as collaborating with Marine Corps Chaplains on morale, welfare, and outreach events. Projects ranged from children’s programs and community clean-ups to organizing historical tours and preparing meals for veterans and the homeless.
Since relocating to New York City, Taissia has continued her service with New York Cares, completing over 70 hoursof volunteer work. Her projects have included school beautification, holiday drives, food rescues, senior engagement events, and community festivals.
